Holiday Candied Walnuts

A healthy take on an old favorite! Get omega 3 fatty acids and an antioxidant boost while enjoying this *sweet treat!

  • 3 cups walnuts (organic)
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon (Ceylon (if possible))
  • 3/4 cup Monkfruit sweetener (we used Lakanto brand) or *Xylitol
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup water
  1. Heat water and vanilla extract in large frying pan on medium heat. Add monkfruit sweetener or *xylitol, cinnamon and sea salt. Stir vigorously until dissolved. Add walnuts and continue stirring until walnuts are completely covered with the mixture. Remove pan and allow to sit for 1 or 2 mins. Spoon walnuts onto plate to cool.

  2. Recipe options: You can try unsweetened cocoa in place of the cinnamon, or along with it.

  3. *DON'T OVERDO this sweet treat (if you have used Xylitol) as Xylitol can have a laxative effect!
